Ronald McDonald Huis Sophia Rotterdam

Rovasta donated a special manufactured sponsorship sign to the recently build Ronald McDonald Huis (house) Sophia Rotterdam. 
Its design is by VFD Architects, who previously designed the interiors of several Holland America Line cruiseships. Since the house has a maritime nature, it was chosen to use the simple form of a folded paper boat, which was cast by Rovasta in stainless steel. Each of the 120 stainless steel boats have the names of the sponsors engraved by laser. The stainless steel sign has attained greater depth by freely mounted stainless steel waves at the front of the sign, behind which blue LED lighting was attached.

Apart from the boats on the sign in the entrance hall, also the rooms and common rooms in the building have plates mounted with boats attached to them.

The newly built Ronald McDonald House was completely financed from donations. Parents of children that have fallen ill and are currently staying at the Sophia Children's Hospital can stay there.
